I didn’t expect much when I picked up Conversations With Friends, but Sally Rooney completely surprised me. Her conversational style draws you in, and while the characters aren’t always likeable, their experiences explore class, feminism, and friendship in ways that feel fresh and contemporary. This is a novel that stays with you long after you’ve finished it, and it’s made me eager to read her other works, starting with Beautiful World, Where Are You.
